So, tank crowd how are you feeling on this “victory Monday”? Does the Jets 20-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins have you feeling down? Well, don’t worry it is ok to smile as this win over Miami is just what the doctor ordered for this rebuilding Jets team.

The goal for this season is to establish a new culture spearheaded by young players. Game by game you assess every position with hopes of finding building blocks along the way. Ideally you want to see a well coached team play with passion and pride while executing their game plans.

On Sunday, the Jets gave you as a fan everything that you want to see from an overhauled roster. The coaching staff put a sound game plan in place and the team followed through with a consistent performance.

On offense the line featured three young linemen (Johnson, Shell, Dozier) who did an excellent job against a formidable defensive front. The receiver group is lead by two veterans in Kearse and Kerley that are helping Robby Anderson and ArDarius Stewart learn the ropes of the NFL.  The running back by committee approach is featuring Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire which is a nice tandem for the future. At quarterback, Josh McCown is the perfect leader that is not only respected, but is making big plays with his arm and legs.

Defensively, Jamal Adams is emerging not only as a leader, but as a star as well. Adams can do it all displaying excellent range and tackling ability. Marcus Maye, Terrence Brooks, and Darryl Roberts also had quality games which is a good sign for the Jets secondary. The linebackers are starting to find their way as Darron Lee and Jordan Jenkins are beginning to contribute while Demario Davis arguably played his best game as a Jet. The defensive line is headed by Leonard Williams, who can be one of the best linemen in the game.

It is one thing to win games with a veteran laden roster that has no hope for the future. It is another to earn a victory that young players could use as a learning experience for the future. This game is something to build off of, which is the perfect situation for Gang Green. Let the hard work on the practice field and in the classroom pay off on game day. That’s what sets the tone. A tone that should be music to the ears for all fans of the New York Jets.
